I am a citizen of Malaysia. I also own a citizenship of the digital world. Well, you are too! A user of ICT should have proper ethics, practice safe participation in the digital world and be responsible of their actions. We should never be ignorant of our acts just because it is in an online world.
I took the quiz about bullying and I confidently answered them all. I got 3 answers correct out of the 4 questions. Although cyber bullying amongst secondary school students are not at a dangerous rate, it can be discreetly threatening.
I also agree with this article that a bully victim should not blame themselves for becoming one. It takes support from family and friends to not feel bad about becoming a bully victim.
This Cyber Smart Quiz is super cool! The quiz is intentionally for primary level students but I myself found it attractive too! I already shared it with my friends and families so they can have an idea how to teach their young ones about cyber safety.
The quiz gives a good idea on what to teach about cyber safety and enables people to learn on what is safe, what is not, what is right and what is wrong.
The two quizzes that I took gave me an insight of the relation of bullying in a digital world. I find it really important for all ICT users to know about the proper ethics. The quiz gave me a perspective that young people and us adults should practice healthy ethics online.
In my beloved country, there are just plenty of cases and people exposing stories of their children becoming victims of online grooming. Due to that and many other reasons, being cyber smart is a must for everyone!
I believe being aware of healthy ways to operate ICT can help a person develop understanding about the pros and cons of a digital world. We adults may not be able to stop young people's curiosity but the understanding of a digital world can work as a reminder to them in case things happen.
When young people understands the good way to operate ICT, it may be easier to discuss with them or remind them about becoming a digital citizen.
I will share with my students, friends and families that becoming a digital citizen is altogether about having good ethics, being responsible
of
our acts and monitor our safety and to grant safety to other digital citizens.
